NRF Welcomes Shields Fellow Will Daly

We are pleased to announce that Will Daly will join the NRF staff as a Frank Shields Fellow effective immediately. Will joins Taylor Ritzel; together they will assist the NRF staff with communications with donors, and National Team athletes past and present. In addition Will and Taylor will work on NRF projects related to the annual events hosted by the NRF including the National Rowing Hall of Fame, the Head of the Charles reception and other NRF events.

Will is from Vail Colorado and grew up skiing, playing hockey, and soccer. He attended Kent School in Kent Connecticut. There he played soccer, ran cross-country, swam, and started rowing. After Kent he attended Boston University and continued his rowing career. In 2005 Will made his first National Team appearance in the U23 Lightweight Four. Will graduated Boston University in 2006 with a BS in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Law.

In 2006 Will made his first Senior Team as a member of the Lightweight Men’s Eight. In 2007 he was again a member of the Lightweight Men’s Eight. In 2008 Will made the Beijing Olympic Team as a member of the Lightweight Men’s Four. From 2008 until 2011 will remained a member of the Lightweight Men’s Four.

In 2012 Will switched to the Lightweight Men’s Double winning US Olympic Trials, but failed to qualify the boat at the Olympic Qualification Regatta in Luzern Switzerland. He was member of the 2012 Olympic Team as an alternate for the Lightweight Men’s Four and the Men’s Quad. He also competed in the 2012 World Rowing Championships in the Lightweight Men’s Pair.

Will is continuing his rowing career, training at the Oklahoma City High Performance Center with hopes of making the 2016 Rio Olympic Team.
